Luis Anavitarte is research vice president in the IT Leaders "Midsize Enterprise" team. His focus is on strategy for end-users and also vendors. His coverage includes advisory for midsize user organizations, and vendor clients addressing these companies. Some of his topics include digital transformation, digital business, API strategies, and current internal changes and dynamics in midsize companies as a 'must know' by the supply side organizations. Mr. Anavitarte initiated his Gartner career opening and developing the company's Latin America research in 1996, expanding his responsibilities (2008 to 2016) as Agenda Manager for all emerging markets (Latin America, emerging Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa). Prior to joining Gartner in early 1996, Mr. Anavitarte as a career diplomat from Peru was trained as an analyst, with his last diplomatic post as Director of the Economic and Commercial office in Peru's embassy in Italy. Working with CEOs and high government officials, he has had several previous-to-Gartner years of hands-on international economic, financial and marketing experience in the United States, Latin America and Europe, covering both the private and government sectors.
