National Payments Corporation of India with the vision “To be the best payment networks globally” and mission of “Touching every Indian with one or other payments services” initiated its Cloud Journey in late 2016 during demonetization. NPCI was formed as Not for Profit Organization, by Reserve Bank of India & Indian Banking Association and is an umbrella organization, NPCI is a Payment Gateway and Clearing House for the Nation. Some of the popular digital products are like RuPay, Unified Payment Systems, BHIM, CTS, NACH, NETC, & NCMC. The Cloud Journey was initiated to address three key challenges of Business and unpredictable growth i.e. Speed, Scale and ROI. Over a period of time NPCI Private Cloud has transformed and have addressed major concerns pertaining to Speed, Scale and ROI and it was designed around 4D Principal.

 

  1. Speed: Provisioning of Infrastructure has been reduced from 3 Months to a day.
  2.  Scale: As of now key digital payments product like BHIM, IMPS, AePS, National Financial Switch -ATM transactions, UPI-FRM, RuPay Settlement systems, National Automatic Clearing House, National Electronics Toll Collection, National Common Mobility Card, and many more are operational from NPCI private Cloud and leverage benefits of Horizontal scale.

Mr. Surya Narayan Singh joined NPCI as Vice President – Cloud Computing effective February 1, 2017. Surya brings with him 17 years of experience in IT Infrastructure domain - Private & Public Cloud, IaaS, PaaS & SaaS, Virtualization, UNIX, Storage, and Clustering. In his last assignment he was associated with Fidelity Investment as an Infrastructure Architect.

 

In his previous assignments he has been associated with Hindustan Times Media Ltd as Dy. General Manager – Enterprise IT Infrastructure. He had also been associated with BirlaSoft Ltd, DCM Data Systems Ltd, and Zenith Computers Ltd. He holds B.Sc. (Math’s Physics), PGDCA/ADCA (MCA*) from IGNOU and MBA (IT) from Sikkim Manipal University.
