Norihiko Nakabayashi


In 2002, he joined IBM Japan, and as a data scientist, helped perform multipronged analysis of customer data and tackled the company's various issues from the perspective of data and data analysis. As an evangelist, he communicated the value of utilizing big data in business. He served as vice director of Opt Holding Inc.'s Data Science Lab, then in 2016 took a position as chief data scientist at Sompo Holdings' department of digital strategy. His role there is to build and execute group-wide strategies to maximally utilize data, an essential resource for businesses today. Since April 2014, he has also served as a visiting associate professor at Tsukuba University Graduate School, helping prepare future data scientists for the corporate world. He has served as the director of the Japan Data Scientist Society since April 2017.

Keys to success in DX Building a framework for cultivating and utilizing "open" talent

In the process of digital transformation (DX), it is important to go beyond the walls of the organization and gain ideas and insights both internally and externally, as well as make efforts to build new talent to benefit the organization. In this session, from my perspective in cultivating data scientists, I will introduce ways of building an open framework for the cultivation and utilization of "open" talent, from both inside and outside the organization, and discuss the best direction going forward.
