Earl Perkins is a Research Vice President in the Security and Risk Management team at Gartner. Mr. Perkins' focus areas include:
- Integrated risk management, including operational risk management
- Cybersecurity strategy
- Digital security strategy, planning and practice for the organization
Mr. Perkins has more than 38 years of IT, networking and security experience, and has worked in several industries, including:
- Education (mathematics)
- Oil and gas
- Energy and utilities
- Software (Microsoft)
- IT research
Much of his career has been focused on planning, building and operating networks, as well as software and system development, integration and security. He has been recognized for achievements in designing, deploying and securing networks and systems for four corporations (two U.S.-based and two international) and managing IT restructurings.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Perkins held Director positions at Microsoft in market research, as well as VP and Senior Director positions in network, security and risk strategies at the IT research firm Meta Group (acquired by Gartner in 2005). He also held IT management and technical roles at Entergy, an electric utility based in New Orleans, and Senior Manager positions at London Energy in London, England.
