The Parkville Precinct is a world leader in biomedical research, development and innovation. There are four health organisations collocated with the Precinct: Melbourne Health (consisting of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Doherty Institute, and North-Western Mental Health), the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital.
A recent investment to transform patient care across the Parkville Precinct Health Organisations, is the Connecting Care Electronic Medical Record a common Electronic Medical Record within the Precinct.
A centralised EMR support model along with some centralised ICT Services will be required to realise efficiencies as well as deliver the most sustainable solution.
Currently duplication exists in roles, effort, processes and technology across the Precinct ICT services. This program offers opportunities for productivity improvements and quality service improvements through centralisation.
