Tips for attending the conference as a team

Drive your HR strategies forward when you align conference lessons with those of your colleagues and key stakeholders.

  • Have a team planning call to set key objectives.
  • Decide a strategy for how to divide and conquer the agenda (for example, which sessions to attend collectively versus separately).
  • Agree on how you will share key lessons with one another and with your team back in the office.
  • Create a document repository for notes, slides and other file sharing.
  • Have each team member schedule their one-on-one with a Gartner expert and brainstorm meeting topics.
  • Create a group chat or channel to stay in touch during the conference.
  • Update your notes as you attend more sessions.
  • Make a plan to share a coffee or lunch break together as a team.
  • Set up a.m. or p.m. meetings to discuss what you have learned and any outstanding questions about the conference material.
  • Connect on LinkedIn with any peers you met during the sessions.
  • Set up a meeting to review key take-aways and create an action plan for how you will apply what you have learned. What are you going to start doing/stop doing/do differently as a result of what you have learned?
  • Schedule follow-up meetings with any exhibitors that piqued your interest.
  • Request your unique code to redeem for SHRM/HRCI CPE credits.
  • Schedule time with your teams back at the office to share your lessons and new initiatives.
