Michael Johnson

Four Time Olympic Gold Medalist

The best 200/400 metre sprinter in the history of the sport of track & field, Johnson’s progressions through the ranks of track and field were swift and stunning. The first man ever to be ranked number one in the world at both 200 and 400 metres, and the first to win both events at an Olympic Games, he retired with four Olympic gold medals and nine World Championship golds to his name. Michael credits his achievements to a consistent philosophy of success based on the principle that to achieve anything an individual must start with a goal. His was to be the fastest he could possibly be, and it was this that drove him to train every day, to commit to the sacrifices involved, to overcome obstacles and to achieve his personal best despite competing under unbelievable pressure. Post athletics Johnson has applied this philosophy to the Michael Johnson Performance brand, a sports performance training company that provides training to professional athletes and sports teams across the world.

Closing Guest Keynote: Speed...

Michael Johnson’s name is synonymous with speed. The best 200/400 metre sprinter in the history of the sport of athletics, he dominated the international scene, winning gold in four Olympics and nine World Championships. Michael will readily admit that he was born with natural ability, but becoming the fastest in the world is only achieved through deliberate strategy and dedication. In this keynote session, Michael will speak about the importance of setting and committing to goals, the need to confront and overcome weaknesses rather than trying to go around obstacles, how he performed in the face of intense pressure and the importance of adapting to new technologies and competitive environments to attain speeds that haven’t previously been thought possible.
