Staff Software Engineer
As a Staff Software Engineer at Etsy, over the last 7 years I’ve worked on all aspects of Etsy’s buyer and seller mobile apps, from new product features to design systems to platform/infrastructure. Most recently I led a team responsible for re-architecting the top four screens in Etsy’s buyer app. Prior to Etsy I worked on mobile banking apps for 2 of the big four banks in Australia, and have developed apps for everything from helping mechanics identify car parts via image recognition to creating interactive learning experiences for children visiting museums. When I’m not building apps, I’m rehabilitating unique historic buildings in upstate New York. I’m currently working to preserve an abandoned 1870s train station and a 1920s schoolhouse.

Case Study and Discussion: How to Re-Architect Mobile Apps and Restore an Abandoned Train Station

Etsy’s mobile apps have grown significantly over the last few years, and the engineering teams have scaled to match. This interactive case study session will cover strategies for modernizing and re-architecting a large, complex app without slowing down product development and providing value to end users at the same time. Not working on a mobile app? No problem, these strategies can be applied to many kinds of projects and we’ll dedicate half of our time to hearing from each other on strategies you’ve employed.
