While leaders cite “people” as being a top priority, Gartner research suggests companies tend to overinvest in technology to solve agility challenges. Those leading the way tend to invest both in people and technology. In doing so, they avoid a major agility stumbling block — hierarchy and its focus on process execution.
Higher-maturity organizations use more sophisticated varieties of teams. They have more engaged employees and a better ability to develop new approaches. As a result, they innovate more quickly as their talent is both skilled and engaged.
