Overview: Early Withdrawal by IBM of the z9 Could Put Users in an Awkward Position in 2010

The timing of IBM's withdrawal of the z9 from marketing is earlier than prior generations. The lack of upgrade availability will be disruptive for some IBM customers -- particularly if the "z11" is not available until 4Q10. The announcement also has implications for z10 customers.
