Having recently met with senior executives from three of the top software vendors selling into retail--JDA, Oracle, and SAP--to review plans and positioning for the upcoming year, a common question arose: Are retailers as tired of hearing about retail ERP as the software vendors seem to be? While the question may be a bit startling, it suggests that vendors have matured their core ERP products, such as procurement, merchandise management, human resources, and financials, and are shifting investment toward retail business intelligence, advanced retail planning, and sophisticated store and cross-channel capabilities.
