SOAs promise faster and more flexible reconfiguration of business processes--but there's a catch. SOA can expose functionality across existing systems while hiding complexities and limitations of older or legacy systems. Therefore, new systems will be needed. Here we discuss the vendor landscape and provide some recommendations for how to get started building an SOA framework. Vendors tout SOA, but BPM is vital to seeing benefits.
