Summary

The Federal Maritime Commission's landmark ruling is now in effect, which allows Non Vessel-Owning Common Carriers (NVOCCs) to negotiate private contracts with their customers. This move, which effectively completes the deregulation of the U.S. maritime industry, levels the playing field between the freight-forwarding community and the shipping lines.
