Summary

Some 15% of manufacturing companies are outsourcing parts of their research and engineering activities, and another 10% have plans to outsource some activities by the end of this year, according to AMR Research's 2004 BPO survey. The recent IBM-Nortel partnership illustrates the benefits of outsourcing product engineering.
