Product development without process development is handcraft. Unless manufacturing processes can be planned, designed, modeled, and ramped up, there is no scalable business potential. Manufacturing Process Management (MPM), a term promoted by Israeli software vendor Tecnomatix, is real and increasingly important for asset-intensive manufacturers (like Automotive) who require the cost benefits of flexible manufacturing.
