Why are more retailers buying packaged application software when many of these applications don't meet current requirements? It's rational choice, not schizophrenia, that leads to these decisions. Retail CIOs and their Line-of-Business (LOB) cohorts are learning the lessons their manufacturing counterparts learned in the 1990s.
