Despite a deregulation slowdown, competition still threatens most utility companies. In addition, consumers and regulators are demanding improved customer service. Regulated and non-regulated utility companies must reevaluate and adjust their strategies to prepare for these new market conditions. The CIS is the cornerstone for most of these strategies, but utility companies are finding that legacy CIS applications are more of a roadblock than a catalyst.
