For retailers selling private-label product, strategic sourcing is the single biggest opportunity for margin improvement. While much attention has been paid to bidding events and automated RFx's, these processes can only take a retailer so far. Savvy retailers will examine the entire strategic sourcing pyramid and identify products that are appropriately sourced at every level of the continuum.
