The Automation and Drives Software House Division of Siemens AG has made an offer to acquire manufacturing IT vendor ORSI Group, based in Genoa, Italy. ORSI Group's Cube and MESAD software products are used for process control, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and business process modeling. ORSI Group, with revenue of nearly $28M in 2000, has approximately 360 employees and offices around the world. The Siemens division is hoping to use the ORSI acquisition to create a technology and integration platform for shop-floor automation and drive applications (i.e. Siemens's Automation and Drives Group). The details are not yet known, but the offer is expected to be in the vicinity of $120M.
