A resurgent interest in release accounting has surfaced in the Automotive world, necessitating a new look at what options are available to users. Our conclusions: large, complex suppliers have few outside options, other than a limited number of small legacy vendors, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) vendors, or Future Three. Even within the ERP community, users will find Future Three software embedded as a release accounting system. Until recently, though, it only operated on the AS/400 and had made several unsuccessful attempts to update its architecture.
