Most of the collaborative product development hype in the Automotive industry has been with high-level PLM-type systems. However, most Automotive companies realize that more fundamental problems need to be solved, like sharing CAD and design files with suppliers and customers. The groupware-type applications do provide some value, but after online meetings, engineers must still transfer drawings to their own design systems.
