PSDI announced the acquisition of INTERMAT, Inc. this week for approximately $55M. INTERMAT is a 20-year-old provider of MRO content management tools and cataloging services. Its core product is the Standard Modifier Dictionary (SMD), an application to describe Maintenance and Repair Operations (MRO) and general supply items that includes 6,500 unique formats or templates. INTERMAT also brings to the deal its proprietary AutoCon system, an expert engine and knowledge base with over 80,000 business rules specific to MRO material. Rounding out its offering are the Struxture and Cataloger's Assistant tools for managing catalog content, locally or over the Internet. PSDI subsidiary MRO.com plans to use all of INTERMAT's applications and services as the foundation for creating and maintaining industrial MRO content at its mroMarketplace portal.
