Formscape--until very recently known as AFP Technology--is in the nitty-gritty business of providing output management software to enterprise clients. And it has done very well up until now. Founded nine years ago, Formscape now has more than 2,500 customers and 30,000 implementations globally. Its client list reads like a blue-chip roster of SAP, Oracle, Lawson, and J.D. Edwards customers. Output management software provides the intelligence layer between the software application and the output devices a customer uses (think network printing), provides the presentation intelligence outside of the software application (think preprinted forms), and provides network management of data from the application (think network management). And yes, in this e-commerce world, it can also direct that output to wireless devices and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) as well as the usual cast of network printers.
