Summary

AMR Research has often emphasized the critical importance of industry domain expertise in manufacturing planning and production scheduling, particularly true for the Chemical industry. Chemical industry supply chain planning vendor, WAM Systems, has begun an aggressive campaign to promote its supply chain planning applications suite, termed Picaso. WAM has been selling Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems since 1987 and has garnered a blue-chip stable of clients. The Picaso suite itself was released in 1998, but to date, has not been effectively marketed. WAM's new emphasis on sales and marketing comes courtesy of an injection of venture capital. The investor, Safeguard Scientific, is also contributing sales and marketing expertise to WAM.
