SAP and Performance Measurement Group LLP (PMG), a subsidiary of global management consultant PRTM, formed a strategic alliance this week to offer an online benchmarking service for supply chain management in conjunction with SAP R/3. SAP will use the data and analysis provided by PMG as part of a repository of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics, across different industries and processes, which can be used to benchmark a company's performance against industry standards. The service will allow organizations to compare themselves with other companies in the same industry, before and after a major undertaking such as R/3 implementation. PMG has already conducted a proof-of-concept pilot for Performance Snapshots, including a subset of performance measures such as delivery performance to request, total supply chain management cost, order fill rates, and net asset turns. The program is expected to be in general availability for current R/3 customers in the next quarter.
