The federation market continues to evolve and mature in interesting ways. In 2009, enterprises are challenged with managing access to an increasing number of applications that are moving off-premises and into the cloud--as well as managing access to the hundreds or thousands of applications still on premises. For users, the experience can be daunting and frustrating. In this report, VP and Service Director Gerry Gebel examines how the federation market is changing to address traditional use cases, enable new scenarios with hosted federation services, and meet consumer demands by incorporating information card and OpenID support.
