Service Oriented Architecture Roadmap: Keeping on Track

Published: 06 July 2009

Analyst(s): Chris Haddad , Anne Thomas

Summary

Even though every organization seems to be "doing SOA," many will not demonstrate significant and long-lasting benefits. Service oriented architecture (SOA) is an architectural discipline that requires a cultural shift. SOA will impact many aspects--from portfolio strategy, software development processes, infrastructure, governance, organization structure, and roles to team collaboration and incentive systems. In this Application Platform Strategies overview, Service Director Chris Haddad outlines an assessment approach and a roadmap to successful SOA adoption. A roadmap will help an organization set and manage expectations, achieve short-term wins, prove long-term benefits, and keep its SOA initiative on track.
