Business intelligence (BI) is in high demand, but organizations embarking on BI initiatives are often disappointed when those initiatives fail to deliver promised benefits. The success of a BI initiative is greatly affected by the organization's overall BI maturity. The maturity model for BI initiatives presented here can be both descriptive and prescriptive, in that it enables organizations to assess the current level of maturity for their own BI initiative, and enables them to see what they need to do to improve the maturity of their BI efforts going forward.
