Data governance is a component of IT governance, which is part of corporate governance. Businesses should assert data governance at the board level, then at the executive committee level, then at the level of the CIO and IT data managers. Data governance can yield revenues and profits. Organizations should launch a data governance program if one does not exist, or improve one that does exist, to capture benefits. In this template, Burton Group Senior Analyst Joe Maguire describes the components that can support a data governance program.
