The One-Team Approach to HR IT Business Partnership

A growing reliance on automation, intranet tools and business-process outsourcing has relieved HR of many of its traditional administrative responsibilities. At the same time, many IT organizations are transforming from an operational to a strategic orientation as they mature from transactional suppliers to business partners. In response to both trends, HR needs to partner with IT, taking a "one-team approach" in which HR plays a more business-relevant role that enables IT to create a workforce capable of driving its own transformation. This research addresses how HR practitioners and IT leaders may differ about how the partnership should work, revealing how leading edge HR organizations overcome the challenges and form highly effective partnerships with IT.
