Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world, with 2009 net sales of $12.7 billion. The company is organized into a country structure that reflects major operations in the emerging markets of Brazil, India and China. The Brazilian division has reimagined its vision, mission and values to create a new company that drives innovation and a strong customer focus. This outlook carries over to Boehringer Ingelheim Brazil's physical structure and culture. According to Rubens Pinto, IT director, "We reinvented our values to orient them around innovation and how best to serve the community in Brazil. We were missing some customer focus and determined that we should make the company more customer-centric and accessible."
