Virtual Directory Services

Published: 09 July 2012

Summary

Virtual directories — servers that can assemble identity data from multiple, heterogeneous repositories — have existed in the identity and access management (IAM) world for more than 12 years. Virtual directories provide value to many large organizations by dramatically shortening the deployment cycle of IdM applications. As organizations move applications to the cloud, virtual directory services are becoming even more valuable. This iteration of the "Virtual Directory Services" template accounts for significant changes in the industry. *The secondary authors listed above have been included for attribution purposes only.
