Virtual directories — servers that can assemble identity data from multiple, heterogeneous repositories — have existed in the identity and access management (IAM) world for more than 12 years. Virtual directories provide value to many large organizations by dramatically shortening the deployment cycle of IdM applications. As organizations move applications to the cloud, virtual directory services are becoming even more valuable.
