To further adoption of public cloud services and to differentiate from the competition, cloud services providers must address the valid regulatory and compliance concerns of customers for the confidentiality and privacy of personal identifiable data.

Table Of Contents
  • Impacts

  • Wide-scale adoption of cloud services is seriously hampered by valid customer concerns regarding privacy compliance that are not being addressed by current cloud services provider offerings
  • Privacy regulations and requirements that customers need to adhere to are becoming increasingly complex and continue to differ from country to country, while penalties and fines for non-compliance are growing significantly.
  • The discussion on privacy often revolves around the location of infrastructure, platforms, databases and data centers, but the impact on higher levels of the cloud stack (software and business process as a service [BPaaS]) are in fact, more profound.
