Impacts and Recommendations

  • New service offerings sparked by Gartner's Nexus of Forces are driving sourcing managers to accelerate the adoption of managed services which demands stronger and more diligent multisourcing competencies
  • CIOs approve cloud services purchases based on competitive advantage and speed of deployment rather than cost cutting. This approach shifts the financial impact and risk of managed services and so demands more discipline in sourcing.
  • The CIO's role is bifurcating between a "run the business" cost cutter and a "grow the business" collaborator. This impacts the confidence level, value proposition and score of the entire IT organization and sourcing office.
  • Hybrid IT sourcing portfolios composed of traditional outsourcing coupled with new managed service offerings are becoming the new normal. Sourcing executives, therefore, need to be proactive rather than reactive.
