Impacts and Recommendations

  • The pervasive use of BYOD — a 2012 survey shows that more than 50% of SMB employees regularly use private mobile phones for work — will drive high levels of interest in mobile virtualization among consumers and SMB organizations as a "stepping stone" toward implementing BYOD
  • Security is among the top three IT priorities cited by SMBs. This creates justification for virtualization at the hardware and software level as it moves data off privately owned endpoints and into the data center where it can be more efficiently and securely managed.
  • HVD services in SMBs is on the rise. The highest planned adoption for 2013 to 2016 is in the 100 to 249 employees size businesses.
