Gartner's 1Q13 SMB forecast expects worldwide external IT spending by SMBs to exceed $1 trillion by 2016. The midsize upper segment is forecast to show the highest five-year compound annual growth rate, at 4.9%, and the greatest increase, with $84.8 billion growth from 2011 through 2017.
