Impacts and Recommendations

  • Big data stores and streaming analytics are becoming feasible and approachable, allowing for centralized collection and analytics, allowing for data and insight to be leveraged by additional persona within and outside of IT organizational silos, which each may have specific use cases, workflow, and data presentation needs
  • Monitoring architectures are currently evolving from monolithic systems to discreetly designed architectures, requiring IT operations professionals, application support specialists, and even developers to deal with more data being collected and analyzed for the required insight
  • Monitoring tools are becoming easier to implement and use, thus lowering the cost of entry for IT operations, application support, and developer buyers
  • SaaS-based monitoring tools with deep analytics are beginning to have advantages over on-premises software aside from allowing application support, development, and line of business users to implement technology without the involvement of IT operations teams
