Impacts and Recommendations

  • Shared cellular data plans for large (more than 500 devices) deployments can cut costs for telecom managers by 18% or more versus unshared data plans
  • Plans that share or pool data allotments among all handheld device types — smartphones, tablets, aircards and cellular hot spots — provide greater savings for telecom managers than those limited to one device type
  • Pooled data plans that are designed for deployments of 500 or fewer devices may cost telecom managers 44% less than a la carte shared data plans by including unlimited voice and messaging; however, they require more complex management than shared plans for larger deployments
