After declining in 1997, the data processing semiconductor market declined again in 1998, as the size of the PC semiconductor content continued to drop. However, the data processing market consumes almost half of the semiconductors produced in the world. The PC semiconductor market drop is partly offset by growth in other data processing areas for which strengthening demand is fueling a growing semiconductor. This report examines the data processing market in terms of its many segments and looks at the related semiconductor opportunities.
