IBM's Information Management System (IMS) has been around for 30 years. Although IMS may seem antiquated in this age of relational database management systems, it is still among the fastest, most reliable database computing system available. In addition to using relational systems, the majority of the world's major corporations rely also on IMS to provide end users with immediate access to mission-critical information and to process billions of vital transactions a day, such as airline and car reservations.
