Now that the uncertainties surrounding the changes in ownership are behind it, Global One is again concentrating on its strategic direction. The carrier is delving into delivering IP solutions, and its parent France Telecom has committed funds toward the build-out of an IP architecture in North America. Additionally, France Telecom is purchasing majority control of Equant N.V. and combining it with Global One's data business. The new organization will face obstacles typical of any large telecom merger-- challenges in network integration, differing management styles, and back-office system integration issues.
