DG/UX is Data General's version of Unix for its line of AViiON mid-range and high-end servers. A Unix System V Release operating system, the 64-bit DG/UX offers clustering, high-availability, security, and systems management features. It also supports the cache-coherent Non-Uniform Memory Access (ccNUMA) architecture, which combines characteristics of both symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and massively parallel processing (MPP) technologies. In late 1999, Data General was purchased by EMC, a high-profile data storage company.
