Summary

The RS/6000 workstations are IBM's RISC-based UNIX workstations. The RS/6000 workstations have a large installed base, mainly with users of the CATIA CAD/CAM/CAE application suite. The four models in the range use two processor architectures, POWER3-II and PowerPC 604e-- one is high-performance, one isn't. A number of proprietary graphics options are available, from 2-D to high-end 3-D. AIX is IBM's UNIX-based operating system for the RS/6000 workstations and servers.
