Delphi 5 is the latest update of Inprise's (formerly Borland) surprisingly popular RAD development tool. It's built around the modern, fully compiled Object Pascal development language, yet communicates easily with multilingual clients. There is a Delphi product for every developer: Delphi Standard for novices or small projects; Delphi Professional for LAN and database systems; and Delphi Client/Server Suite, with easy-to-use COM and CORBA development tools, Web connectivity, and MIDAS for n-tier distributed applications. Each version features a complete set of development tools, including a built-in editor, a graphical debugger, an object browser, a project manager, and database connections. Delphi has attracted a loyal following, and Inprise should consider porting it to other platforms, especially UNIX.
