The BayStack Instant Internet 100 and 400 Internet Access routers are designed to connect an entire local area network (LAN) to the Internet through a single IP address. The Instant Internet 100 router ships with a choice of a 56 Kbps analog modem, ISDN, or dual Ethernet configuration for DSL and cable modem access. It is ideal for a small office with less than 50 people. In an office of 50 to 500 users, the Instant Internet 400 router is recommended. The Instant Internet 400 model includes high-speed leased line support, such as T1 (with or without an integrated CSU/DSU), V.35, X.21, and 56 Kbps DDS (Digital Data Service), as well as standard 56 Kbps analog, ISDN, and dual Ethernet configuration offerings. In May 2000, operating system enhancements were announced by Nortel Networks (Software Version 7.10) to include Virtual Private Networking (VPN) support between the Instant Internet units and the Nortel Networks' Contivity product. The VPN enhancement support includes dynamic DNS support, dynamic IP address support, robust NAT support, multinetting, DIFFSERV, and a host of other features.
