McKessonHBOC Pathways Materials Management

Published: 20 June 2001

Analyst(s): Barbara A. Kelly , Mary S. Meley

Summary

Cross-industry supply chain management (SCM) solution providers, such as PeopleSoft and Lawson Software, have made significant inroads in the healthcare industry. To compete, healthcare application software companies that sell traditional materials management systems rely on their expertise and track record in providing IT systems and services to care delivery organizations (CDOs). McKessonHBOC's strategy is to integrate Pathways Materials Management within an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for healthcare organizations, as well as with other Pathways 2000 applications. McKessonHBOC also plans to link Pathways Materials Management with Supply Management Online, its Web-based pharmaceutical and medical-surgical supply purchasing system.
