Impacts and Recommendations

  • The availability of an x86 version of HP's Integrity NonStop forces existing NonStop customers to begin planning for the migration of mission-critical applications to the new architecture or face increasing support risk as Itanium approaches end of life
  • A more open architecture will enable the use of more commoditized hardware, enabling customers to achieve easier integration with existing hardware infrastructure
  • An x86 version will support standardized infrastructure, enabling customers to achieve easier software integration of the NonStop stack and better coexistence with the broader software ecosystem
