ASM Lithography to Acquire Silicon Valley Group

On Monday, 2 October 2000, ASM Lithography (ASML) announced that the company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Silicon Valley Group (SVG) in an all-stock transaction, pending government approvals. Under the terms of the agreement, SVG will become a wholly owned subsidiary of ASML. With the pending acquisition, ASML will receive not only SVG's lithography division, but also its track and thermal product divisions.
