Impacts and Recommendations

  • The increasingly distributed ownership of technology across the organization will inhibit the organizational leaders' ability to make timely and accurate decisions about IT investments, with much of the blame cascading down to the portfolio manager
  • The current disconnect between strategic goals and getting the right projects started will be exacerbated by the amount, types and rate of change occurring across the organization, distorting views and results reported by portfolio managers
  • Lack of sophisticated and smart IT portfolio management tools will constrain portfolio managers from meeting business expectations for better analysis
