iPath, once part of DeRoyal Business Systems, became a separate business unit and assumed its new name in February 2000. iPath was created to develop software products for the surgery information systems market. The company's Operating Room Management Information System--ORMIS--consists of a family of standard and optional software modules. iPath has added Internet access to the O.R. Scheduler module to allow Web-based case scheduling. It has switched from Informix to Oracle as the relational database management system that it will support in ORMIS systems sold to new customers. iPath has also reduced the number of hardware platforms supported.
